Jin Zhiyi’s Report

In our “Zero Waste” group project, I was in charge of visual design, content refinement, and team coordination, playing a central role from the early logo development to the final poster presentation. To ensure a high-quality and professional result, I made use of tools such as Photoshop, Canva Pro, Figma, Grammarly Premium, and Notion. Below is a structured timeline of my contributions:

Early June|Kick-off & Thematic Planning

In our initial group meetings, I proposed focusing on food waste as a tangible entry point under the zero waste concept. I also set up a Notion workspace to manage research materials, assign responsibilities, and monitor progress, which improved our group’s efficiency and communication.

Mid-June|Logo Design Phase

I led the complete logo design process. Starting with concept sketches in Figma, I refined the design using Photoshop and Canva Pro, focusing on typography, graphical balance, and an eco-friendly color scheme. The final logo integrated visuals of leaves and recycling icons, representing our zero waste theme and became our project’s unifying symbol.

Early July|Poster Drafting

After completing the logo, I took full responsibility for the poster cover design. I developed the visual around the slogan “STOP FOOD WASTE”, and analyzed visual communication examples from international campaigns. Using Photoshop, I created layered image compositions and applied color correction. I then used Canva Pro to refine typography and visual hierarchy, resulting in a clean, compelling layout.

Mid-July|Refinement & Polishing

Following feedback from team members, I conducted multiple refinement rounds to adjust contrasts, alignments, and spacing. For the English text content, I used Grammarly Premium to ensure grammatical correctness and professional language tone. I also documented the revision history to maintain transparency within the group.

Late July – Early August|Final Integration & Presentation Support

Toward the end of the project, I merged the logo and poster design into our final presentation slides. I also created a Design Rationale Document, explaining our design choices, visual elements, and overall concept to help convey our message effectively during the final review. In addition, I organized our design assets and notes to ensure consistency and quality in our deliverables.
